The one thing I have been able to find that is absolutely consistent is this 1 file failed to validate thing. Every time I get the tone switch and validate local files I get that. But... I had an issue where the game doesn't run.... Find the executable file.... bg3.exe or bg3_dx11.exe.... right click and run from desktop... BUT BEFORE YOU DO... turn off Steam. Unless your save are on your SSD, you might not have them... but it ran for me... HOURS and HOURS of trying different things... turning off Steam allowed me to run it.
I did at that point. There's one that I keep finding in the Data files despite the fact I uninstalled it. Then it is the mod. The 1 file has to fail revalidation and will continue to fail it until the end of time. It is an engine self-protection measure, so it is completely normal. Your issue comes from something else.
The "one file failed to validate and will be reacquired" is normal. It happens to me too and the game works fine for me. That one file is just a save file or something that wont be overridden because then you lose progress. Thats just a guess tho. The file that doesn't validate is the encrypted DRM which can't be identified as ok by the validation program due to it being unique and encrypted. Its not a problem and occurs with a lot of games.
