Hibachi restaurant in my area chef and server split it 50/50. I’m a long time bartender and eat at Benihanna too often lol. How come the fact that menu prices can be increased by 15%-20% is never mentioned. If a person is currently expecting a 100% dinner bill they are also expecting to tip 15-20$ or more. The current system hedges the restaurant's losses if it is slow and encourages servers to want to be understaffed.
