I believe these are just two words for the same thing. And to your question, nothing would happen as CK2 only does drift for kingdoms or empires. The way it works is that if you hold an entire duchy in your kingdom for 100 years then it will become de jure part of your kingdom. But as I recall it only works if you are a king yourself.
