Ram Year. 2012. Engine. 5.7. So my service 4wd light came on after driving about 20 minutes. Pulled in a parking lot shifted to park and the shifter would not go back into gear. Turned truck off and back on then everything is fine. No light and shifter moves. Drive back home same thing happens.

This is the most serious and surprisingly common problem with automatic transmissions in the Ram 1500 model. I wouldn't say it's extremely widespread, but you should check the valve body if you see the "Service Shifter" message and then right after it the "Service Transmission" message. 2014. Engine. Hemi 5.7. I'd try another shifter switch, they are less than 100 on ebay and take all of 10 minutes to swap out. You don't need to have them programmed either, swap and go, 2wd and 4wd use the same switch but you'd have to re-use the bezel and 4wd buttons if you pick up a 2wd switch.
