The build I am going for is the nagakiba with the bloodflame blade incantation. I am thinking of investing in str/dex for the nagakiba, and a bit of faith because of bloodflame. However, I am confused to how affinities work in Elden ring, I have a couple of whetstone blades but I don't know which affinity I should use on the nagakiba.

Even the jump from 14 to 40 is only 42 points, much less than putting all of them into dex (though not terrible). Arcane would do nothing for a Cold Nagakiba's blood buildup because it doesn't scale with Arcane. You'd need to make it Bleed or Occult to have the buildup scale which would remove your Cold Affinity.
