At this point, Rec Tec doesn't sell a cover for the Matador. Given where I am keeping it, I wanted an option to cover it when not in use. I did some measuring and a lot of searching, and found the Unicook Heavy Duty Kettle Grill cover on Amazon. The Amazon ASIN is B073VKZZ3S. Oct 12, 2014. #1. I have done brisket a few time before but wanted to do one on my new Rec Tec Grill. I got a 12lb brisket from WalMart. The day before I was going to smoke it I trim a little fat off then coated with my mild rub and Montreal Steak seasoning. I also injected some beef broth mix with a little of my mild rub and Worcestershire sauce.

We downsized and moved in 2021, and I sold my Weber gas grill and Bradley electric smoker.I've used the heck out of my BGE, from smoking meats, grilling steaks (Cooking them at 600°+ for 2 mins per side, resting for 5) and even baking pizza. They believe temperature accuracy may be compromised by using the down draft device and the ability to achieve low temperatures in hot weather will inhibited by the modifications. I haven't found it necessary to modify our REC TEC. The dang thing has worked like a charm for me every time I fire it up.

The 590 runs a little hotter on the right side, so I put the thicker point toward the right, otherwise, you can use one of the thousands of brisket recipes available on the web.
