Hickman's departure was a chance for everyone to spin it into their own personal feelings about the new era up to that point. And now we shift to the "Hickman's a disappointment" train that's leaving the station. I'm taking the "wait and see" approach; HoX/PoX was my introduction to X-Men and IMO this era has been amazing for the most part so ...Firstly Bendis was pulled off of the X-Men suddenly. He clearly had longer term goals and aspirations but Marvel were trying to de-emphasise the X-Men and having one of their highest profile writers and most influential artist (Immonen) working on them was incompatible with that. Corporate policy trumped art.So far I've read HoX/PoX as well as the Hickman X-Men Omnibus (which is X-MEN (2019) #1-11 and #16-21; Giant-Size X-Men: Jean Grey and Emaa Frost, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Fantomex and Storm). Ideally, the X-Men: TAS's roster would have been a bit more fluid during its run, but it would be unfair to ask that of the only show that had a cast that large at that time. If you read comics from the late 1970s and all through the 1980s, X-Men was the most popular title of all comic books. Even in the 1990s when the quality took a nose dive, they were still hugely popular, and then more so because of the popular cartoon. Then in the 2000s, they had a hugely (commercially if not critically) successful movie ...Also, the rest of the movies aren’t in a super great continuity. This resulted in a thrown-together garbage script and a bad movie. tomophilia. • 1 yr. ago. The scene where Mystique is shot with the cure and Magneto is just like ‘see ya’.

Wolverine and the X-Men is a more modern, pre-Krakoa book that is quite good and offers the old school feel of the team and school that people love.
