In general, the honor societies to consider joining (if you aren't looking to get very involved with service) are Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi, and a few others that are discipline-specific (e.g. a business honor society or a history honor society). The more general a society is, the most scrutiny you should use when deciding to join.
