Healey lost his eyesight due to cancer when he was only one year old. He taught himself to play the guitar, and later how to play the trumpet. Jeff Healey died of cancer at the age of 41.Jeff Healey began playing guitar at a very young age after losing his sight to eye cancer at the age of one. He began performing at 17 and formed the Jeff Healey Trio in 1985. Their debut album See the Light in 1988 remains their most commercially popular.
