In the time it will take you to farm a full mercy set you could easily quest through Novus (a comparatively short world) and start farming Aeon. All Novus farming dungeons almost always have instant team up since lots of people are still farming for Aeon sets and pins.

Merciless isn't worth the farm either since aeon is just around the corner and merciless gear isn't necessary to complete novus imo. I'd recommend just farming darkmoor, buying cabalist if you want, then farm aeon. Everyone has really great points!
