The quality and specs of these 2 guns is beyond the Mossberg 500 and a used Remington 870. The barrel on the Mossberg is parkerized while the receiver on the Supernova is encased inside polymer to guard against rust. Both never jam. Get a 500 with a rifled barrel (or a combo). If your main use-case is deer, you want that rifled barrel for sabot slugs, and the Nova slug barrels are outrageously priced from what I've seen. Benelli is a better gun all around. I'd get the supernova over the nova. Hated the super nova and loved my 500.

Weighing-in at a scant 6.9 pounds, the Stoeger is suitable for hauling over hill and dale. Like any pump gun, the full force of your round is transmitted back into your shoulder.
