My first two were indicated by MM at 16k and 53k. If you frequently tow or drive in the mountains, more frequent changes may be necessary. ( Owner's Manual page 563 ).So unless Honda changed the G2 Ridgeline back to a shared sump for the trans and transfer assembly, I think the trans fluid is a different fluid than the transfer assembly. In the case of my G1 Pilot and G1 Ridgeline, I change the transfer assembly hypoid gear oil every 30k miles (also the VTM-4 fluid).

Ive tried a socket wrench, tried kicking it, Borrowed a impact wrench, 50ft torque and 240, at 110 PSI. If you are capable of changing your own engine oil, you can easily change your own rear differential fluid. Two quarts of Honda Dual Pump Fluid II and a couple of sealing washers for the drain and fill bolts is about $25 - less than an oil change and less often.
