How much hp can a stock 4l80e handle.
I want that the TH350 shifts at 4000RPM, but because boost pressure is set on the vacuum modulator, the TH350 will shift at 5000-5500RPM. I now adjusted the kick down cable and placed a adjustable modulator and it shifts now at 4500RPM at 5.7 psi. When I set the turbo at 7 psi, shift point goes back higher.
the dmax van has the 4l85e in it stock. an 'upgraded' 4l80. dont know what you are planning for hp, but the van is very detuned. 250hp/460tq from the factory.Sumner, WA. Jul 8, 2004. #17. But some were rated higher depending on it's application. 1989 was not a high horsepower maybe 230 or torque motor if I recall correctly. depends on how you drive it and how lucky you are. some guys are able to handle the 175hp tunes and some can barely handle the 60hp tunes. Blake 80e with a shift kit and good clutches only. That being said, if you are not goin to do alot of highway cruising the t400 would be cheaper and just as strong.

My T5 has lasted very reliably behind about 480 ftlb flywheel torque (412 at wheels) with much full throttle use at the strip. Having said that though some people seem to be very 'hard' on transmissions and can spit a T5 all over the ground behind a stock 302. If you think you're in that catagory then don't use the T5.
