my gasket stuff , for s/c came w a small tube of black permatex. no gaskets, rtv only. go around whole nose piece tightening little by little.remember, its not lugnuts your tightening. also, do not apply any degreaser/solvent to the rotors. they are coated and removing this coating is said to be bad.(loose sealing capability)(less efficient).

I can't remember for sure but I seem to remember the 3800 being like the 3400/3100 motors and you'l have to remove the pushrods to replace the gaskets which means you'll want to pull the front valve cover.Dunno if that's normal, but I don't think it is. Pan is steel, and looks to be held on by a frame between bolts and the pan itself. Up top, looks like it's also coming from the valley seal for the LIM. Coming from the corner nearest firewall on front side of motor, and making it's way down. Seems straight forward enough, oe LIM gaskets are a well known weak point on the 3800.

I had checked to see that all bolts were at 11 ft lbs and discovered those were loose. They were then torqed to 11ft lbs.
