As the Dagger’s mag release is pushed it moves a little bit until the spring wire touches the inward curved area. At this point, the leverage goes away and it takes more pressure to bend the spring wire around the circular area. Thus, producing a much harder mag release. Look inside your pistol.

The extended release is just perfect…not too short, not too long, i.e. the magazine will not accidentally release if pistol is laid on a hard surface. Perfect with use of back strap mounted lasers. For Gen 1, 2 & 3 pistols only. Finally made it to the range with the Glock 43x and the new Dagger Micro 15rd mag. Before going to the range I took the mag apart and checked the spring and did a little sanding inside the mag on the polymer side, on the sharp edges of the follower and the top edges of the the mag. Loaded them both to 15 that evening and put them in my range bag. Finally made it to range today to test them. Weighted (Aluminum) magazine base plates. Just the extended release helps IMO. I use a strike industries extended release on my dagger and gen 3 glocks. I added a standard Extended Mag Release. It worked way better for me than the standard one. But, I like the one you can buy the is similar to the gen 4 release.

I doubt the issue is the OEM Glock 17 magazine… I think we can strike that one. That leaves the PSA Dagger, or the Brownells mag release. Maybe I got a mag release that slipped by QA/QC. I doubt it is the Dagger – the pistol worked fine with the mag release that came stock on it.

Now, when inserting a mag, the mag gets hung up and stops about once in every three insertion attempts.
