Additionally, a number of years back, Smith & Wesson issued a repro with some of the Model 29's. There are discussion threads which include pictures on the big blue Smith-Wesson Forum.Most definitely, saves the time and effort to fit the screw to the crane. Use the new style plunger with a piece of drill rod behind it instead of the spring. The older cranes had a square slot milled around the post on the crane. A square nosed screw went into that slot to retain the crane. It was a stronger design.

It seems the belief is that the mag springs are weak and compress to the point of failure. I agree so I ordered springer precision srings that specifically for the 2.0 10mm. Cant wait for them to arrive. i. (2) The recoil spring has orange paint on tip and dont forget its the 4 inch model. I cannot find that spring's weight.

Because the Model 41 comes from the factory with a light recoil spring that's designed to operate the gun on Standard Velocity ammunition.

The 13 round magazine adds 5/8” of an inch to the grip (which gives me a full grip but barely making the cut) while the 15 round magazine adds a full 1 inch to the length with plenty of room for a full grip. If the top strap (the area of the frame above the cylinder) is checkered and the right side of the barrel is stamped "S&W 357 Magnum", it is a S&W Hand Ejector (pre-Model 27). It could be a "Highway Patrolman" if the right side of the barrel is so stamped the top strap ...Having extra recoil springs on-hand isn't a bad idea if you plan on doing a lot of shooting. The spring for the CS45 is painted green (the CS9 is red) and can be bought from S&W for about $3.26/ea (plus shipping, etc).The 686 was built for a specific reason, and that's to take the stresses of the faster and lighter hypersonic 110-125 grain 357 magnum bullets. It looks like a Mod M&P 38 Hand Ejector. That S/N would have shipped from the factory 1906-1909. It appears to have been refinished but not by S&W at some point.
