I have only stayed at the Elegance - just got back from our 3rd visit, and have heard good things about the Colonial as well! Though both resorts have an AO section, the Colonial leans more towards families as compared to the Majestic.

The club sections in the Majestic Elegance and Majestic Colonial are adult only, but there are still kids throughout the rest of the resort. The Colonial has more kids than the Elegance by far. Based on what you want, I think Breathless would be a better fit for a solo travel in their 30s out of the 3 resorts. I've stayed at the Colonial (got married there) and the Elegance - both were great upper-mid-range resorts. The majestic colonial is the sister resort of the majestic elegance and is right next door. The grounds layout is almost the same. The advantage that the colonial has is that it is a few years old and has had all opening glitches resolved and the landscaping has 2 years of growth. My preference is---MAJESTIC all the way.

I see that … Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres will be located north of Cancun, 20 miles / 40kms away from the Cancun International Airport. Playa Mujeres is known for its turquoise calm waters and white sand beaches surrounded by vegetation ideally located 20 minutes away from downtown Cancun and just a couple of minutes away from the Punta Sam Ferry Terminal for a day-trip to Isla Mujeres. The Majestic Mirage is known as the quieter and calmer resort out of the 3 Majestics. It's adult oriented. 2 out of the 7 buildings are dedicated for families and the other 5 are adult only. The entire resort is club. Not many kids around the Mirage compared to the Elegance and especially the Colonial.
