After a failed attempt at PF cakes/SGFC (not the subject of today's post) I decided to try my hand at monotubs. Everything went great with the jars (B+ MS, WBS) and I followed Damion's tek in spawning ~ 4.5 quarts to 1 brick of coir, 2 quarts verm and about a cup of gypsum. It takes more than 10 days from bulk for pinning. Don't forget that even if it looks fully colonized, it still takes awhile for the inside to colonize too. Nutrients need to be taken before the tub goes into fruiting. Monotubs with polyfil don't really need a whole lot of extra FAE. What do I need to make a monotub? A fruiting Boomr Bin. Spore syringe or liquid culture syringe. Injection port bag or fully-colonized grain spawn. Clear plastic bin (like those made by Sterilite) or a ready-made monotub. Oct 27, 2011 · Monotubs with polyfil don't really need a whole lot of extra FAE. But even I fan it every now and then. Check the sides of the tub for water collecting. If it doesn't look like it is humid enough in there, spray some water. Remember to be patient. Here is a pic of a nice pinset with low FAE. Don't worry, if it colonized, it is GOING to fruit.
