If you are driving up, or down 260 northeast of Payson, you must take rim road, the last road before the decline of the highway. Go to the west, not to the east where the ranger buildings are. Drive about 2 miles, and on the left is the best view of the valley below the rim. I have driven the whole rim road, and this is the best view.
